About Us
Our Mission
Holy Family School is an educational community which reflects Christ's presence in our daily thoughts, words, and actions.

Philosophy of Education
As educators in a Catholic school, we dedicate ourselves to establishing moral values through a program of instruction that develops and forms each person spiritually, mentally, and physically as an individual and member of our faith community.

History of Our School
Holy Family School opened its doors over 60 years ago under the direction of the Marianites of Holy Cross, an order with its roots in France, where they were established in 1849 to educate the poor. The Marianites had been in this area since 1857, when they established a school for girls in Plaquemine, located in Iberville Parish. Father Domsdorph, pastor of Holy Family Parish, recognized the need for Catholic education in the Port Allen community. He petitioned the Sisters to open the school in Port Allen. Under his guidance and direction, a Catholic school was established in West Baton Rouge Parish in 1949. This beginning started a wonderful tradition of Catholic education in the Port Allen community, where the school is a vital and integral ministry of Holy Family Parish. The school also serves the needs of families and students in the surrounding communities and church parishes. Holy Family School opened its doors on September 5, 1949, with 146 students in kindergarten through third grades. By 1953, the school had grown to include forth through eighth grades. The following buildings were added to the original campus. In 1958, the convent for the Marianite Sisters was completed. By 1961, the middle school was completed, and in 1990, a library/media center was added and a science lab was built. In 2004 – 05, a new state-of-the-art computer lab was designed and set up. In August 2009, pre-kindergarten classes were added to the campus. Thirteen staff members are alumni of Holy Family School. This speaks to the incredible foundation set forth by the Marianites, the dedication and sacrifice of parents throughout the years, and the continuance of God’s many blessings in this community.
